My family tree has many branches. But the ones I know the most about are the Upton/Burnett/Underwood/Powers.
My maternal grandparents were Edward Walter and Martha Evaline(Underwood)Upton. Ed was the son of Columbus Napoleon and Rosa Bell(Burnett)Upton. Eva was the daughter of George Wesley and Martha(Johnson)Underwood.
Ed and Eva moved to California from Childress Texas with their 3 children and Columbus Napoleon Upton, my great-grandfather 'Polie', in 1946.
Both being born and raised in Indian Territory Oklahoma, it was a different life they had come to.
Great-grandpa Polie said he wanted to live long enough to see Grandma and Grandad in their own home. They built a home in Biggs, California and completed it in 1947. Great-Grandpa Polie died in March 1947. But he lived to see his wish come true.
They lived in the same house until Grandad died in 1961. Grandma continued to live there until she remarried in 1974 and moved to Los Angeles. She married Merrill J. Stewart, one of the kindest, sweetest, gentlest men I've ever known.
I grew up in the old home place in Biggs, raised by Grandma and Grandad. I have lots of great memories from there. I hope you will visit some of my other sites where I have shared some of my memories.
My paternal grandparents were Elias Wintfrey Powers and Imealie(Rutledge)(Powers)McDanel. I didn't know Elias, as he died before I was born. My Grandma married Argil McDanel
and he was the only grandpa I knew on my dad's side. I called them Grandaddy Argil and Grandma Mac. Argil died in 1974, but Grandma Mac is still living.
