With the help of Sharon Crawford, RootsWeb, and other researchers, I have been able to trace the Underwood family back to Thomas and Elizabeth Underwood. Thomas was born around 1620 and Elizabeth around 1622.
Their son, Samuel Underwood, born 1650 in Delaware and died 1746 in Pennsylvania, married Mary Ann Wilcox in abt 1685. She was born abt 1670 in Delaware and died aft. 1722.
Samuel and Mary had 6 children, one of which was Alexander, born 1688 in MD Province and died in 1767 in Pennyslvania.
Alexander married Jane Harris Harry in 1710 in Delaware.
Jane was born 1687 in Pennyslvania and died in 1736.
Of their 13 children, Benjamin was next in line on my Underwood tree.
He was born in 1728 in Pennsylvania and died in 1803.
He married Susanah Griest on Jan. 7, 1749/50.
Susanah was born 1733 and died in 1800. They had 9 children.
Nehemiah Underwood was born in 1753 and died in 1772. He married Mary Price, on Dec. 29, 1797 in Prob,MD. Mary was born 1762. They only had one child that I could find.
Mordecai Underwood was born abt 1806 and died before 1870. He married Deborah Blazer, who was born around 1806, in 1826, and had 7 children.
Which brings us to George Wesley Underwood.

George Wesley Underwood and Martha (Johnson) Underwood had 10 children. The youngest of these was my grandmother Martha Evaline (Underwood) Upton.

This picture was take in 1994. This is one of the sweetest ladies anyone could ever meet, Martha "Eva" (Underwood) Upton. I feel very fortunate to have had her in my life. She was a strong woman with a heart bigger than Texas. I loved her dearly and miss her so very much.
